Contact

Four channels, all by email. There is no contact form, because it would collect data that answering you does not require.

Provider channel

You speak for a provider listed in the matrix

Then please use this address. Reports through this channel are handled first, whether or not the provider takes part in the Verified programme.

anbieter@vpn-matrix.com

What you can report

  • An entry is factually wrong.
  • An entry was once correct and has since been overtaken.
  • The source on file does not support the entry.
  • An entry about an incident, a court case or an acquisition misstates what happened.
  • In your view a trademark is being used unlawfully.
  • You grant or withdraw permission to display your logo.
  • In your view a piece of content infringes rights.

What a report has to contain

Without these details we cannot verify anything and have to ask, which costs both sides time:

  • The address of the page and the key of the criterion concerned, exactly as it appears there.
  • The value currently shown and the value you consider correct.
  • A publicly reachable primary source for the correct value, with its full address. A statement by email is a provider claim and is labelled as one.
  • The date from which the new value applies, if it has changed.
  • Name, role and an email address on the provider's own domain, so that we can see you are entitled to speak for it.
  • For an alleged infringement additionally the exact passage, the right you rely on and the reasoning. A blanket demand is not enough.

What we commit to

  • Acknowledgement of receipt within three working days.
  • A substantive answer within ten working days, including when we do not follow the report.
  • Reports naming a concrete legal infringement are examined without delay. Until the matter is settled the data point concerned is flagged as disputed or temporarily set to unknown.
  • Where we do not follow a report, we state the reason and the source we are relying on.
  • Every correction appears in the public changelog, noting that it originated from a provider report.
  • A correction costs nothing and does not require taking part in the Verified programme. Money changes no value in the matrix.

Right of reply at the data point

Every data point has a field for a note. If you disagree with a sourced entry and we stand by the source, we enter your statement there verbatim and label it as a statement by the provider. The existing value stays visible, so does the source. Your view therefore sits directly next to the entry it refers to, not on a separate page.

The note is not rewritten editorially. It is shortened only where it plainly bears no relation to the data point or infringes the rights of others.

Editorial

Questions about the methodology, hints about missing providers or criteria, enquiries from press and research.

If you do not represent a company and have found an error, you can write here as well, or suggest a change directly at the cell.

Suggesting a new provider

Is a service missing from the matrix? An email is enough, there is no form for this either. A service is added when it is publicly available and its operator is verifiable or explicitly marked as anonymous.

redaktion@vpn-matrix.com

What the email should contain

  • The name of the service and the address of its official website.
  • The company name and its country, or a note that the operator wants to stay anonymous.
  • Evidence for the company: register extract, imprint or legal disclosure.
  • Addresses of the privacy policy and the terms of service.
  • Addresses of audit reports, transparency reports and a warrant canary, where they exist.
  • Whether you speak for the provider or write as an uninvolved person.

Being added costs nothing, cannot be bought and does not require taking part in the verified programme. We report the result back, and a refusal comes with its reasoning.

Why there is no form

A contact form would need extra data processing and spam protection and would end up doing the same job as an email. So there are only addresses here.
